Annual Appeal

Carrying on another 100 years of arts and culture. Please donate today!

About the Winnipeg Art Gallery’s Annual Appeal

A gift to the Annual Appeal provides art and education to everyday people in our community. Help shape the future of the WAG by making a gift to one of these areas of giving:

The WAG was able to invest even more into this area than in previous years with major exhibitions such as Winnipeg Now, Creation and Transformation: Defining Moments in Inuit Art, and 100 Masters: Only in Canada. The Centennial year concludes with Storm and Spirit: The Eckhardt-Gramatté Collection  of German Expressionist Art.

Permanent Collection

Over 50 pieces of art were added to the WAG’s growing collection last year, including Aqjangajuk Shaa’s Hunter Carrying Caribou (above image).

Youth Programs

The WAG’s Youth Programs connect art with education for the youth in our community. Last winter, Family Sunday had one of the highest attendances for the exhibition Creation and Transformation: Defining Moments in Inuit Art and featured activities like Inuit drum dancing and throat singing.

Since launching the Endowment Fund in 2010, almost $20,000 has been raised for investment into the WAG’s future. Having an Endowment Fund secures a future for the WAG.

Area of Greatest Need

WAG programming has grown in quality and quantity over the past few years. The Centennial year saw the community engage with many special programs and events, including the Birthday Party, and Nuit Blanche which welcomed 7,500 visitors to a free day for the public in September 2012.

Last year, donors directed their gifts towards one of these areas of giving (below), which helped shape the exhibitions, programs, and art acquisitions at the WAG. Continue reading to find out how your donation will assist the WAG in carrying on another 100 years in the community!
