New catalogue coming in April!
Artists’ Files Collection
The library maintains over 10,000 artists’ biography files (mainly Canadian). Files contain clippings and pamphlets and other ephemera on artists represented in the Winnipeg Art Gallery collection, as well as Canadian and some International artists. Access to this collection is available on the Canadian Heritage Information Network database, Artists in Canada.
The Periodicals collection includes magazines, newspapers, and other serial publications available for browsing and research. Our library subscribes to scholarly and general art magazines, featuring all important Canadian, North American and international titles. The library also subscribes to the Art Index database (available in-house) and you can research articles from back issues held in our collection.
WAG Archives Collection
The WAG Archives collection represents the activities of the Gallery, from its inception to the present. In addition to the institutional records, the collection also includes the archives of individuals uniquely connected to the Gallery, such as George Swinton, Inuit arts patron, artist and author. The Archives collection is available by appointment only.
A New Books list will be created approximately every four to six weeks to reflect recently acquired and catalogued books in our library. Please note that these lists will only feature a selection of the new books entered in our catalogue and you can contact the library for all other new titles that may be available.
