WAG’s Gallery Ball Sold Out
The Winnipeg Art Gallery’s premiere annual fundraising event, the Gallery Ball, is sold out—three weeks ahead of time! For the first time guests at the October 15 black-tie affair will dine and be entertained in the permanent collection galleries surrounded by 500 years of art. Winnipeg artist and architectural designer Ben Wasylyshen will transform the galleries into five lush dining spaces, separate in theme, accented by magical floral displays created by seven of the city's leading floral designers.
Monies raised through the Gallery Ball will be allocated to the WAG’s Youth Programs, and donations are still being accepted.
“Each year thousands of young people in Manitoba enjoy the WAG’s youth programs that open the doors to the joys of creativity and a love of the arts,” says Director Stephen Borys. “Through art classes, school visits, Family Sundays, summer art camps, and Young Weekends they have the chance to experience all that art has to offer. Their horizons expand as they learn to see the world through other eyes. They learn to work as a team in the Saturday art classes. They spend quality time with their parents or grandparents at Family Sundays. Our new summer art camps were sold out, with waiting lists!”

The Gallery Ball 2011 was chaired by Deborah Thorlakson with a committee of 22 volunteers.
Dundee Wealth Investment Counsel is the presenting sponsor of the Gallery Ball. Other sponsors are Storm Catering, Winnipeg Free Press, Doowah Design, Esdale Printing, MLCC, Florists Supply Ltd. Lawton Partners, Doowah Design, Cadets Canada, the Costume Museum of Canada, and Mitchell Fabrics. Twenty-four Winnipeg companies also purchased corporate tables.
