MakerLab is a funky new series of DIY evening workshops presented by WAG Studio. Explore do-it-yourself creative projects with innovative, local crafters, makers, and artisans. Experience the satisfaction of crafting something with your hands alongside like-minded adventurers. You don’t need to be a practising artist to participate...just come, relax, and have fun!

MakerLab: L&R Studio

Lisa Schroeder of L&R Studio teaches you the skills necessary to hand build two ceramic pinch pot planters based on their popular “Pot Head” designs. You will create a wall planter and a stand-alone planter. Familiar with adding modelled elements to her own work, Lisa will be instructing participants on how to add faces (or whatever else!) to their planters. Give your plants a new home!
Planters will be available for pick up 2 weeks after the MakerLab.

Ages 14 and up. Participants under the age of 18 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.

Space is limited. Advanced registration required. Revenue from MakerLab is used to fund programming for children, teens, and adults at WAG Studio.

No need to be an experienced artist– our entertaining artist-instructors will guide you through how to create watercolour paintings inspired by Jessica Weymouth and Stella Maria Baer’s cosmic and geode artwork. After learning the techniques to create moon and agate slice paintings, you will be given 9”x12” canvas boards and free reign to use your new skills to make 2-4 minimalist masterpieces.

Through your choice of acrylic or oil paint, you will be introduced to basic colour theory, and learn to use various brushes and media, such as thinners and thickeners. This drop-in program provides an independent study of life drawing. Although no instruction is provided, you will have the opportunity to work from models in whatever materials you like. No advance registration is required; payment is collected each week at the WAG Studio front desk. Bring your own supplies.
