Volunteer Information

The Winnipeg Art Gallery is a great place to volunteer! Whether you like working with kids or working with books, selling jewelry in a gift shop, or selling concert tickets—we have an opportunity for you.
public programs
The Public Programs department is responsible for producing and presenting concert and film events, including the annual Jazz on the Rooftop series and the Cannes Commercials. Volunteers are needed in a number of areas, including ushering, taking tickets, handing out programs, working in the box office or in backstage production, and band hospitality. While most programs occur in the evenings, there are often afternoon matinees. Shifts are one or two hours and volunteers can bring a friend and see the films or concerts at no cost. For more information, call 789-1765.
special events
Each year the Gallery organizes major fundraising or special events such as Art and Soul and the Gallery Ball. Volunteers are always needed to greet attendees, take registrations, hand out programs, sell raffle tickets, help with set-up, and various other activities. For more information, call 786-6641, ext 216.
school programs
If you enjoy art and like working with children, join the dedicated team of School Programs volunteers! The Winnipeg Art Gallery offers 28 different programs a year to students ages 4 to 18. Volunteers must have some available time for tours during school hours and attend a two-hour training session every second Monday (morning or evening). Experience with children and some knowledge of art is desirable, but comprehensive training will be provided. For more information, call 789-1762 for English programs and 789-1763 for French programs.
studio programs
Volunteers are needed to assist instructors with Studio Programs for children. Classes are held on Saturdays and duties include setting up classrooms and materials, helping and supervising students, replenishing supplies, and assisting with cleanup. Enjoy the experience of working with children in an art-making setting and sharing in their enthusiasm for art! For more information, call 789-0519.
