WAG Offers Dinner and Tour of Native Artist Exhibition
One of the most popular programs at the Winnipeg Art Gallery is Flavours of Art (formerly Art Eats), an exhibition-themed dinner at Storm Bistro, followed by an exhibition tour. This summer Flavours of Art is featuring the new exhibition 7: Professional Native Indian Artists Inc on May 30, June 20, July 25, and August 22. Dinner is served at 6pm, followed by a one-hour tour at 7:30pm.
7: Professional Native Indian Artists Inc. pays tribute to Norval Morrisseau, Daphne Odjig, Jackson Beardy, Eddy Cobiness, Alex Janvier, Carl Ray, and Joseph Sanchez, who together formed a innovative artist alliance that stimulated new ways of thinking about contemporary Indigenous people, their lives, and art through the 1970s. It was the first Indigenous artist collective: a ground-breaking cultural and political entity that self-organized to demand recognition as professional, contemporary artists.
“We find that tickets to Flavours of Art generally sell out quickly,” says Anna Wiebe, Head of Education, “and we urge people to purchase them well in advance to avoid missing out.”
Tickets for Flavours of Art are $45 for WAG members and $50 for non-members. They are available online wag.ca, by calling 204.789.1290, or by emailing email@example.com.
Flavours of Art offers a fixed menu which is posted online in advance at wag.ca. Anyone with dietary issues or restrictions, may call Storm Bistro at 204.948.0085. Gratuity is included in the ticket price, wine and spirits are not.
