Glenn Buhr and Martha Brooks at WAG’s Jazz Under the Rooftop

The Winnipeg Art Gallery’s Jazz under the Rooftop winter continues on Saturday, November 14 with Glenn Buhr and Martha Brooks. Songs of Love, Loss & Laughter begins at 8pm.

The stage, orchestral, chamber, choral, and vocal compositions of Glenn Buhr have been performed and recorded throughout Canada and Europe, and have garnered him several prestigious awards. As Composer-in-Residence with the Winnipeg Symphony Orchestra from 1990 to 1996, he was the co-founder with Bramwell Tovey of the Winnipeg New Music Festival.

Acclaimed children’s novelist Martha Brooks has a parallel career as a successful jazz singer. As a classically trained coloratura soprano, she is able to mix in amazing high notes to what one critic called ”…her incredible range, those low notes come from somewhere in Australia.”

The WAG’s Jazz under the Rooftop continues on January 16 with the Ron Paley Big Band.

Tickets: WAG member $17 • Senior $18 • Student $18 • Adult $19 • Available in person at the WAG or through Ticketmaster. Includes Gallery admission the day of the concert. Media sponsor: 102.3 CLEAR FM.
