Loony Toons Family Sunday at the WAG

The Winnipeg Art Gallery’s March 14 Family Sunday is going looney with Bugs Bunny, Elmer Fudd, Tweety and Sylvester, and other favourite cartoon characters. It’s all part of the exhibition The Art of Warner Bros. Cartoons, on at the WAG until May 30.

From 1:30 to 4pm, the afternoon will be full of fun. Learn how to create your own cels in the animation workshop with artist Chris Angus. Tune into the Rembrandt String Quartet as they play music and wacky sound effects inspired by Loony Tunes films. Hit the play zone area to create your very own cartoon characters and bring them to life in spinning thaumatrobes, whiriligigs, and flip-it books.

When you get tired, refuel at Bugs’ Carrot Patch snack station, then just settle in to watch Porky, Elmer, and the rest as they chase each other across the big screen.

“Family Sundays are always fun,” says Youth Programs Co-ordinator Aline Frechette, “but we are particularly looking forward to this one. These cartoon characters just lend themselves to so many entertaining activities. We are anticipating a very busy afternoon!”

Admission to the Looney Toons Family Sunday is just $10 for a family which can consist of 2 adults and up to 4 children under 18). This admission applies from 11am to 5pm.

Media sponsors for The Art of Warner Bros. Cartoons are Pattison Outdoor Advertising, Winnipeg Free Press, CTV, 102.3 Clear Fm.
