Off the Beaten Path: Violence, Women and Art
Quilt Unveiling in Honour of Missing and Murdered Aboriginal Women & Girls
Begins: Saturday April 12, 2014
The Government of Manitoba, in partnership with the Winnipeg Art Gallery, invite you to the unveiling of a quilt/blanket wall hanging created by families of Manitoba’s missing and murdered Aboriginal women and girls in honour of their loved ones.
Blankets are traditionally given to grieving families to symbolically show community support, caring and love through their loss. The quilt/blanket wall hanging gives the public a little glimpse into families’ trauma, pain, resiliency, honour, and unconditional love they have for their missing or murdered loved one(s).
