Create a Tale: Summer Art Camps at the WAG

Authored by: WAG Staff on July 17, 2014

The sun is finally shining and the Winnipeg Art Gallery has successfully completed its first week of Summer Art Camps! Last week’s theme, Create a Tale, had the students discovering myths, stories and legends in various works of art. They used what they learned to create some of their own fantastic tales with some very imaginative characters.

The highlight of the week was a special workshop on freeze frame animation with Curtis Wiebe, where the students got to work with clay to create different characters and put them together in some very funny stories. Watch out, Pixar! Who would have guessed that we have some very young film animators in our midst?

This week’s theme is Art Agents. Who knows what secrets and mysteries the students will uncover as young art detectives?

If you’re intrigued, it’s not too late to sign up for our later summer camp weeks.

Nola Le-Ba has her B. Sc. in Microbiology from the University of Manitoba and is currently working at the WAG as the Assistant Summer Camp Director.
