Botero or Bust at WAG’s Family Sunday

¡Hola! Grab a passport and enter the fascinating world of Columbian artist Fernando Botero at the Winnipeg Art Gallery’s Family Sunday from 1:30 to 4pm, on Sunday, January 30. The reduced, all-day admission (which includes admission to The Baroque World of Fernando Botero exhibition) is $20 per family (up to 2 adults and 4 children under 18). Admission for WAG family members is $10 and $5 for individual members.

Shout ole! and click your castanets to the lively Colombian music of dance troupe Folklore de Mi Tierra, featured at Folklorama’s Colombian Pavilion. Take your young ones on special child-friendly tours of the exhibition. You’re in the tropics, so fuel yourself with bowls of luscious, fresh fruit. Visit the displays of Columbian costumes and history.

And be sure to take advantage of the art workshops where the kids (and you) can create your own art inspired by what you see in the galleries.

“We always theme our Family Sundays to current exhibitions and they are always great fun,” says Youth Programs Co-ordinator Aline Frechette. “We feel particularly lucky when we have an exhibition like this one that allows us to create a lively Family Sunday that is just full of colour and music and South American vibes.”

The Baroque World of Fernando Botero is on at the WAG until February 27. Exhibition curated by Dr. John Sillevis, Curator of the Gemeentemuseum, The Hague. Organized and circulated by Art Services International, Alexandria, Virginia. Sponsored by Pattison Outdoor Advertising.
