Owen Clark Jass Band at WAG’s Jazz under the Rooftop

The WAG’s Jazz on the Rooftop takes it downstairs to the Muriel Richardson Auditorium when the Owen Clark Jass Band kicks off the Jazz under the Rooftop winter series at 7:30pm, Friday, October 7. Tickets are $21 for WAG members, $25 for non-members, and include free Gallery admission the day of the concert. They are available in person at the WAG or online at wag.ca.

A big fan of old jazz and dance music, Clark published Musical Ghosts: Manitoba’s Jazz & Dance Bands, 1914-1966 two years ago. His October concert will be a narrated multi-media presentation, a powerpoint show of images from this book. It will include life music related to various entertainment venues from years gone by.

A graduate of McGill University, Clark is an accomplished performer, conductor, teacher, and composer. He has been composer/audio engineer for productions at Manitoba Theatre Centre and the Manitoba Planetarium. He and his group perform in a wide variety of musical genres—jazz, rock, country, pop, Latin, and musical theatre.

The next Jazz under the Rooftop concert takes place Saturday, November 19 with the Keith Price Quintet.
