This elegant perfume bottle by renowned Canadian silversmith Lois Etherington Betteridge takes the organic form of a plant bulb; its stopper, the emerging flower shoot. Betteridge’s work celebrates everyday rituals, providing objects of beauty for daily activities, as well as special events. Her work is distinctive, however, in its commitment to the functional object. Acclaimed as Canada’s most influential silversmith, Betteridge has been recognized with the inaugural Jean A. Chalmers National Crafts Award, the Saidye Bronfman Award for Excellence in Fine Craft, and the Order of Canada. She has influenced countless students and peers in the country with her innovative hollowwares as well as jewelry and ecclesiastical silver. This diminutive vessel, through its meticulous craftsmanship and organic sensitivity, is an object to covet and enjoy.
