The Heart of the Arctic
Monday, June 24 to Saturday, July 6
The Volunteer Associates of the Winnipeg Art Gallery are pleased to offer this premier trip to the North marking the WAG Centennial and recognizing our world renowned Inuit collection. Darlene Coward Wight, the WAG’s Inuit Art Curator, will join us, along with many other exceptional resource people providing engaging lectures to inform us about the treasures of the North. A highlight of the trip will be the chance for passengers to create their own Inuit print under the guidance of Pangnirtang artist Andrew Qappik who will also be speaking on life as an Inuit artist.
The adventure takes you to the northern regions of Greenland, Nunavut, and Nunavik. View magnificent scenery, sail through spectacular fjords and icebergs, and glimpse the world famous Sermeq Kujaleq Glacier. See polar bears, whales, walrus, muskox, and rare birds. Be entertained by the wonderfully warm and welcoming Inuit population and see their unique carvings, tapestries, and prints. Hosted by Lila Goodspeed.
