I have been helping out at the Front Desk of the WAG for the last month and I noticed that some of the same questions get asked over and over again. Here are answers to some of those questions.
Q: Where can I park while visiting the WAG?
A: While the WAG does not have its own parking lot for visitors, there is street parking surrounding the building. There is also The Bay parkade across the street and the Buhler Building parking lot behind the WAG. For more information about parking downtown, check out Downtown Winnipeg Biz's website.
Q: Do you have wheelchairs available?
A: Yes, we have 2 wheelchairs available for visitor use. However, these are lent out on a first-come-first-serve basis and may not be reserved.
Q: Is there a restaurant in the WAG?
A: Yes there is, Storm Bistro. However the restaurant is only open for lunch. So if you are coming outside of their operating hours, try some of these other local restaurants I mentioned in a previous blog post.
Q: Can I take pictures of the artwork?
A: Unless otherwise noted, you may take non-flash photographs of the artworks. However we do not allow professional photography or the use of tripods.
Q: Are the artworks on display reproductions?
A: All of the works at the WAG are original, no posters!
Q: Does the WAG do appraisals?
A: No, we do not offer appraisals at the WAG. If you would like to have a work you own appraised, please contact the Art Dealers Association of Canada.
Q: Is there a dress code for visiting the art gallery?
A: No! Shirt and shoes are required but other than that please wear whatever you are comfortable in. A light jacket is recommended just because the galleries tend to be a bit chilly.
Do you have any other questions about the WAG? Let me know and I'll do my best to answer them!
