Experience the Art and Music of Cuba at the WAG's Art After Dark

The Winnipeg Art Gallery’s next Art After Dark on Friday, November 20, takes you to Cuba through the exhibition Cuba Avant-Garde: Contemporary Cuban Art from the Farber Collection.

As well as guided tours of the exhibition, the evening will heat up with a lively performance by the Salsa Explosion Dancers. They’ll even be teaching you a few dance steps of your own!

“The whole ambience of Art After Dark is very appealing for an entertaining and enjoyable evening out,” says Doren Roberts, Special Events Coordinator. “Bring your friends or meet new ones. Relax with cocktails and appetizers. You can wind down at the end of a busy week while learning about art in a relaxing, informal way.”

Advance tickets are $25. Available in person at the WAG or through Ticketmaster.

Cuba Avant-Garde: Contemporary Cuban Art from the Farber Collection
Cuban artists are using their cultural and political history to produce innovative, cutting-edge art that makes their country a world centre for contemporary art. This exhibition, examining the rich and varied history of Cuban art over the past three decades, shows how Cuban artists have challenged accepted artistic and political discourse both nationally and internationally. It features rarely exhibited works, some never before seen outside Cuba.

Cuba Avant-Garde: Contemporary Cuban Art from the Farber Collection is originated by the Samuel P. Harn Museum at the University of Florida and is toured by Curatorial Assistance, Pasadena, California.
