Formed in 1979, Fastwürms is the trademark and joint identity of two multidisciplinary artists, Kim Kozzi and Dai Skuse. Their work melds high and popular cultures, gender and identity concepts, means of social interaction, and do-it-yourself home movies. Using distinctly Canadian images and symbols, Fastwürms combines a mixture of spirituality and science to evoke the idea that a type of metamorphosis will occur in the hope of a better, more ecologically balanced future. The WAG piece is a component of a large-scale, site-specific work, titled Six-Pitch-Otter Slide. As seen here, the artists employ a complex array of symbols that evoke associations ranging from ecology and economics to religion and politics.
