Winnipeg's premier gala event of the year!
Cuba Avant-Garde: Contemporary Cuban Art from the Farber Collection
Saturday October 17, 2009
On October 17, 2009, the Winnipeg Art Gallery welcomed guests to their annual black tie evening—the Gallery Ball—hosted by WAG Director Stephen Borys, Board President Naomi Levine, and Gallery Ball Committee Co-Chairs Hazel Borys and José Koes.
Attendees at the WAG’s fundraising event were the first to see the exhibition Cuba Avant-Garde: Contemporary Cuban Art from the Farber Collection and were treated to a sumptuous and colourful evening. Buoyed by the Cuban theme, the evening included performances by dancers of the RWB Aspirant Program, the big band sound of the Winnipeg Jazz Orchestra, and a tantalizing array of auction prizes. Exceptional works of art generously donated by Robert Archambeau, Keith Berens, Aganetha Dyck, Bill Eakin, Bruce Head, Wanda Koop, David McMillan, Bill Pura, Eva Stubbs, Ewa Tarsia, and Diana Thorneycroft were hotly pursued, as were several exquisite pieces of jewelry.
Cruise Vacations of Winnipeg was proud to provide one of the highlights of the live auction—a spectacular Yachts of Seabourn cruise. For the lucky winner, the Seabourn cruise to the Mediterranean promises to deliver the highest level of personal onboard service as well as the ultimate in highly prized intimate cruise destination experiences.
