Help Trim the WAG’s Christmas Tree

Get the festive season off to a rollicking start at the Winnipeg Art Gallery’s Christmas tree trimming party from 6 to 9pm on Thursday, December 2. The event is free although general admission does apply for visits to the galleries. Donations to Winnipeg Harvest welcome.

It’s a fun-filled evening for the whole family. Warm up with decadent hot chocolate. Munch on yummy cookies. Sing along with the musicians. Avoid those long lines in the malls—bring your camera and take your picture with Santa. Enjoy a screening of Miracle on 34th Street and introduce your kids to this great classic.

And, most importantly, create your own Christmas ornaments and then hang them on our tree. The WAG elves will be there to help you.

The Gallery Shop will also be open that evening with special offers on a wide range of gifts.

“The WAG is always looking for ways to connect with families in our community,” says Youth Program Coordinator Rachel Baerg. “We have programs just for kids on the first Sunday of each month. Our new ArtVenture kits allow families to explore the galleries with hands-on-activities, an art game, and a creative workshop. Our birthday pARTies are becoming hugely popular. This new tree trimming event is yet another way of drawing families in to experience all the WAG has to offer.”

“We are very excited to introduce what we hope will become an annual event at the WAG,” says Director Stephen Borys. “Family traditions are so important and just as many Winnipeggers make the RWB’s Nutcracker part of their Christmas ritual, we hope they will do the same for the WAG tree-trimming event.”

Sincere thanks to Shelmerdine Nurseries for their generous support.
