WAG Extends Hours for 100 Masters Exhibition

In response to the overwhelming attendance at its 100 Masters: Only in Canada exhibition—and the fact that it closes on August 18—the Winnipeg Art Gallery has announced extended hours to accommodate more visitors. Beginning Thursday, July 18, the Gallery and the Gallery Shop will be open from 11am-9pm on Thursdays, and from 10am-6pm on Sundays until the end of the show. The WAG is also open from 11am-5pm on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Saturdays, and from 11am-9pm on Fridays. It is closed on Mondays.

“When our doors open in the morning, people are already lining up to see the exhibition,” says Stephen Borys, WAG Director & CEO. “And we are finding that at closing time, people are just not ready to leave because they haven’t seen everything. With the exhibition closing in only a month, we want to extend  our hours to give our visitors more opportunity to experience the stunning works in the exhibition.”

Attendance at 100 Masters: Only in Canada has exceeded 25,000 as of July 15.

100 Masters: Only in Canada brings together some of the world’s greatest artists all under one roof—Rembrandt, Gainsborough, van Gogh, Renoir, Monet, Picasso, Warhol, to name just a few. Thirty Canadian and American galleries have lent their finest masterpieces to this exhibition celebrating the WAG’s Centennial as Canada’s oldest civic art gallery. The exhibition traces the development of art over the past 500 years from 1503 to 1209.

BMO is the presenting sponsor of 100 Masters: Only in Canada.
