WAG Gallery Ball Sells Out, Online O

The Winnipeg Art Gallery is pleased to announce that its premier gala event, the Gallery Ball on Saturday, October 19, 2013, is sold out. Whether or not you’re attending the Ball, you can still participate in its fabulous online auction at galleryball.wag.ca. The auction includes a stellar array of art, experiences, and treasures you won’t find anywhere else.

From dazzling custom-designed jewelry and a paint makeover for your home to pointe shoes signed by beloved former principal dancer of the RWB, Vanessa Lawson, the Gallery Ball auction is in a league of its own. It features original artworks by Ewa Tarsia, Jon Pylypchuk, Don Reichert, Warren Carther, John McEwen, Diana Thorneycroft, and others. An executive fly-in fishing trip or a spectacular week’s stay in the Scottish Highlands. Closer to home, you can bid on an after-hours dinner with WAG Director and CEO Stephen Borys and his wife Hazel, Principal of PlaceMakers, followed by a tour of the Gallery’s vaults where all the works of art are stored. The list of items is truly amazing. Funds raised through the Gallery Ball support the WAG’s Youth Programs.

Guests at the black-tie event will dine among the sublime aesthetic of the WAG's art collection. The galleries will be transformed into lush dining spaces, accentuated by spectacular designs by the city's leading florists. A delicious dinner will be followed by divine desserts paired with specialty coffee and digestifs. The evening will also feature an installation art piece created especially for the Ball by design collaborative JNZNBRK, live music in an elegant after-dinner lounge, and complimentary valet parking.

“We’re thrilled that Gallery Ball 2013 is once again sold out in advance of the event, which is thanks to the partnership between our dedicated organizing committee and WAG staff,” says Stephen Borys, WAG Director & CEO. “Each year thousands of young people in Manitoba enjoy the WAG’s youth programming, which nurtures creativity and encourages a love for the arts,” says Borys. “Through art classes, school visits, Family Sundays, art camps, and Young Weekends, they have the chance to experience all that art has to offer.”

“The committee is excited to be able to offer the community at large a way to support the WAG through the online auction,” says Scott McCulloch, Gallery Ball Co-Chair. “The response from local businesses and organizations has been overwhelming. The high quality items we’ve been able to collect for the silent and live auctions are being added daily to galleryball.wag.ca. I’d like to remind people that even if you aren’t attending the Ball, you can still support our cause by bidding online!”
