Draught Screen

A threefold mahogany draught screen, each fold enclosing a silk work embroidery on a ground of Oak woven-silk damask under glazed panel, possibly designed by May Morris and depicting flowering foliage worked in coloured silks, enclosed by a frame with curved tops and simple frieze below of lozenge molding likely designed and worked by George Jack.

Fire Screen

A folding fire screen composed of seven panels of painted and leaded glass, all but one of autumnal shaded branches and leaves. The largest, central panel is composed of a circular roundel of leaded glass depicting a woman with long curly blond hair dressed in a red robe with white column. Her right hand clasps a peach, the left hand is raised at 90º to her face with index finger pointing to her right. The carved wooden oak frame features a spindled skirt on outswept legs.

Side table

The table has liberal gilt ormolu applied decoration. The table features lyre-shaped end supports, conjoined with a rectangular shaped stretcher. The centrally located drawer features a broad ormolu mount of what appears to be two winged, semi-nude females [with mermaid tails?], seasted back to back, both on overturned pouring vessels, petting a lion[?], terminating in vegetal volutes at either end.

Bergère

A Louis XV bergère in carved walnut with black leather upholstery [likely not original] featuring a moulded frame with arched horseshoe backrest carved at the top with a floral spray. The arms fesature padded armrests on volute supports The seat rails are carved with scroll work and floral sprays. The seat itself is an exaggerated serpentine-fronted seat, raised at the front on three cabriole legs (the fourth leg being simpler in form and to the rear).

Fall-front secretaire

A French Empire ormolu-mounted mahogany secretaire on block feet with dark marble top above a frieze drawer, above a hinged fall-front, enclosing a fitted interior with open compartments and drawers. The fall-front is flanked by caryatid rectangular pilasters. Below the fall-front, is a pair of doors enclosng a fitted interior with drawers. (Companion piece to the chest with mirror [2015-189.1 and 2] from the same donor).

Fire screen

Fire screen has applied gilt ormolu decoration. Rectangular fabric screen framed by a mahogany frieze at top supported by two tapering, rounded column, each mounted at top and bottom with classical vegetal ormolu mounts. The frieze carries a central stylized and symmetrical rosette and vegetal (quasi-anthemion?) motif, with rosettes at either far and directly above the columns. The rosette motif appears again at the top edge of the carved, scrolled top, which also has in ormolu a central shell motif and two more rosettes.

Chest with mirror

A four drawer French Empire chest with dark marble top and square feet which raise the chest approximately six inches from the ground. The three lower drawers are flanked by tapering, squared pilasters, each topped with gilt bronze [ormolu] capitals of female busts in the classicizing style. Each of the three drawers feature round pulls and Empire-style lock escutcheons. The top drawer cantilevers over the lower drawer and features a central ormolu lock plate only. The mirror is oriented vertically and has a gilt frame with moulded passages found at the corners and centres of each side of its frame.( Companion piece to the French Empire fall-front secretaire [2015-186.1 and 2] also donated by the Salgo Trust).
