Winner of the 2011 Venice Biannale Golden Lion, Christian Marclay's The Clock is a cinematic tour-de-force that unfolds on the screen in real time through thousands of film excerpts that form a 24-hour montage. Generating all-night lineups in galleries in London and New York, it has been described as "...a sort of Holy Grail of contemporary art, a thoroughly rigorous, intellectually and formally challenging work that nonetheless has the popular appeal of a Hollywood blockbuster."
