Birchwood BMW Art & Soul: Après Ski Huge Success at the WAG
The Winnipeg Art Galley is pleased to announce that Birchwood BMW Art & Soul: Après Ski was a huge success on all accounts, bringing the best in mountainside chic to the WAG. The annual fundraising gala sold out for the second year in a row, attracting 1200 people, and raising over $85,000 to support the WAG.
Birchwood BMW Art & Soul: Après Ski featured innovative and interactive experiences on all four levels of the Gallery, including live DJs, access to art exhibitions, breathtaking panoramic scenes, an opulent jazz bar, BMW luxury SUV exhibits, a midnight raffle, prizes for best costumes, and more. The energy was high all night with infectious beats provided by Oh So Popular featuring Justin Séguin, Blackout City Kids, DJ Hipnotic, Mami Flaca Flame, Oxide, Jules Tiopo, Dave Rad and Paul De Gurse.
Birchwood BMW Art & Soul Co-Chair Lindy Norris stated, “We hit our fundraising targets on the nose, and were thrilled to see younger audiences taking in the Gallery and all it has to offer. The enormous success of this year’s event is credited to our inspired and hardworking committee and the dedicated support of our sponsors. Birchwood BMW came on board as title sponsor, allowing the ambitious plans of the committee to realize and injecting an element of luxury to the event. For the second year in a row, EQ3 creatively embraced the theme of the year, providing a glamorous chalet experience enjoyed by all.”
“Art & Soul has once again exceeded expectations as an inventive party that stands alone, connecting the WAG to the community in a way that comes around only once a year,” comments WAG Executive Director Stephen Borys. “Looking ahead to the fall and the launch of the Gallery’s Centennial year, we eagerly anticipate the details of Art & Soul 2013, an important component of our year-long celebration.”
From 1980s-inspired neon ski-suits to lavish fur coats and portable hot tubs, the costumes did not disappoint. Many new and familiar faces were in attendance – making a clear statement that the success of Art & Soul is no fluke, securing itself as the winter encounter on Winnipeg’s social calendar.
The 2012 Art & Soul: Après Ski committee consists of Chad Falk (Co-Chair), Lindy Norris (Co-Chair), Johnny Picklyk (Co-Chair), Jenna Boholij, Myron Dean, Kris Deslauriers, Kayla Dickin, James Eichele, Paulo Fernandes, Alia Furtado, Liam Martin, Laura McFarland, Alan McGreevy, Ryan Leggett, David Lewis, Kevin Parsons, Jessica Remple, Stephanie Smith, and Laura Wittig.
