Meet the Masters at WAG Summer Art Camps
This summer, introduce your children to some of the greatest artists of all time. Rembrandt. Renoir. Van Gogh. Monet. Picasso. Over 100 master artists, all under one roof for the first time in 100 Masters: Only in Canada, the biggest exhibition in the Winnipeg Art Gallery’s 100-year history. And the kids will meet them all at the WAG’s week-long summer camps in July and August.
Children ages six to ten can choose from three different camps. They can create strange and curious collections in Cabinet of Curiosities, become a hero/heroine of their own adventure in Myths and Legends, or travel Around the World in Four Days. And eleven to thirteen-year olds can literally Go off the Wall. All camps include interactive tours in the galleries, daily art workshops in the Studio, exciting field trips, Friday pizza lunch, camper-curated exhibitions, and more!
“Our summer camps give kids the chance to have a lot of creative fun,” says Youth Programs Co-ordinator Rachel Wiebe. “Unlike our fall, winter, and spring sessions which are studio-based, summer camps take these budding artists all over the city, teaching them to see art in the most unlikely places. And landscapes by artists such as Thomas Gainsborough, LL FitzGerald, Claude Monet, or Tom Thomson can be a wonderful inspiration.”
