WAG Supports Movember Through Dalí Exhibitions

Winnipeg, Manitoba, November 19: What do Salvador Dalí and Movember have in common? The mustache of course! The Winnipeg Art Gallery is proud to support Movember with two upcoming events.

This weekend, the WAG will donate $1 of each admission to Movember for visitors who come wearing a mustache. Real or fake, male or female, the public is invited to show their best ‘stache to support Movember and men’s health.

Movember at the WAG takes place Friday November 21, 11am-9pm; Saturday November 22, 11am-5pm; Sunday November 23, 11am-5pm. Adult admission is $18, Senior/Student $14, Family (2 adults and 4 children under 18) $46.

“Salvador Dalí has one of the best mustaches in history so participating in Movember is a natural fit for the WAG,” comments Dr. Stephen Borys, WAG Director & CEO. “Engaging in community relationships is at the core of the WAG’s mission. We are happy to support Movember with a donation weekend and brunch to help spread the word about the importance of men’s health.”

The Movember Foundation is the leading global organization committed to changing the face of men's health. The Movember community has raised $574 million to date and funded over 800 programs in 21 countries. This work is saving and improving the lives of men affected by prostate cancer, testicular cancer and mental health issues.

"It's great to see ‎local businesses and organizations support Movember in their own unique way," says Jamie Hopkins, Co-chair of Movember Winnipeg. "We're excited about the Movember at the WAG promotion not only from the fundraising standpoint but from the conversations about men's health that occur as a result…and Dalí’s iconic Mo’ ties in perfectly.”

At the start of Movember, guys take action by signing up with a clean-shaven face and for the 30 days of November commit to growing a mustache. These selfless and generous men known as Mo Bros, groom, trim, and wax their way into the annals of fine mustachery. Mo Bros are supported by the women in their lives, affectionately known as, Mo Sistas - together, our Mo Community raise money and awareness to change the face of men’s health.

Dalí Up Close and Masterworks from the Beaverbrook Art Gallery run until January 31, 2015.
