WAG Celebrates Holiday Season with Free Party for Families

Winnipeg, Manitoba, December 2, 2014: The Winnipeg Art Gallery is gearing up for its annual Family Holiday Party on Sunday, December 7. This festive event is a free, fun-filled afternoon for the whole family, running from 1:30 to 4pm.

With a host of games, hot chocolate, and cookies, the WAG elves will be on hand to help visitors create their own artful Christmas and Hanukkah ornaments to hang on the tree. Back this year is Canada’s Royal Winnipeg Ballet’s Filbert the Bear, the lovable mascot from the Nutcracker who is bringing some RWB dancers to autograph ornaments! There will also be a chance to see Filbert in action by winning free tickets to this year’s production of Nutcracker.

“The WAG’s Family Holiday Party is a wonderful opportunity to spend time with your family in a creative atmosphere,” says Art Educator Rachel Baerg. “We invite everyone in the community to make this joyful event part of their family’s holiday tradition.”

While the kids are playing, guests are invited to visit the Gallery Shop, which features a fabulous selection of handmade tree decorations, candles, and one-of-a-kind gifts for the whole family.

The Family Holiday Party would not be possible without the sponsorship support of the Winnipeg Free Press. Special thank you to Stella’s at Plug In for supplying the hot chocolate, to 67th Winnipeg Scout Group for donating the Christmas tree, and to the Canada’s Royal Winnipeg Ballet for adding Nutcracker sparkle to the day’s festivities.
