WAG Presents Art & Soul: The Lucid Dream on January 31, 2015

Winnipeg, Manitoba - December 12, 2014: The Winnipeg Art Gallery is excited to announce the theme for this year’s Art & Soul fundraiser: The Lucid Dream. The annual costume party will take place on Saturday, January 31, 2015 at the WAG.

Transforming four floors of the WAG building into a series of dreamscapes, Art & Soul: The Lucid Dream is inspired by Dalí Up Close and Masterworks from the Beaverbrook Art Gallery, two WAG exhibits featuring work by Salvador Dalí that will enhance the Art & Soul experience.

Art & Soul: The Lucid Dream will bring guests the unsurpassed atmosphere and entertainment that they have come to expect from Art & Soul, but the event will have the additional edge of celebrating the art, artists, and ideas of the Surrealist movement. What’s great about this year’s theme is that costume ideas are only limited to the imagination of the guests. Transform yourself into a melting clock or simply wear a mask with your best formal wear, the options are endless!

“Dalí is the perfect muse for an Art & Soul party, which is all about connecting with the community,” comments WAG Director & CEO Dr. Stephen Borys. “The event attracts over 800 people to the WAG every year, and for many young guests, it’s often their first gallery experience, allowing us to share all the WAG has to offer.”

Art & Soul: The Lucid Dream will be hosted from 8pm until 2am and will feature surreal interactive experiences on all four levels of the WAG with musical entertainment provided by Attica Riots, DJ Hunnicutt, and DJ Co-op.

“The Lucid Dream is going to be the biggest, most awe-inspiring party of the winter and we can’t wait to share with our guests all of its fantastic surprises,” says Tim Horn, Marketing Co-Chair of Art & Soul: The Lucid Dream. “Every level of the WAG will be filled with incredible experiences, from local musicians and DJs to extraordinary décor.”

After selling out year after year, tickets to Art & Soul: The Lucid Dream are sure to be a hot commodity for 2015. Tickets are available now for $55 each (or 10 for $495) and can be purchased online at artandsoul.wag.ca or in person at the WAG.

The planning committee for Art & Soul: The Lucid Dream consists of: Rob Brewer, Cody Chomiak, Karli Colpitts, Terry Gallagher, Signy Gerrard, Anthony Gindin, Amanda Green, Matt Hagen, Tim Horn, Mandy Hyatt, Rhonda Kennedy, Ryan Krahn, Ryan Lewis, Lindsay MacKenzie, Alan McGreevy, Ben Rogers, Karly Sullivan, Evan Taylor, Jenna Wiklund, and Melissa Wilkinson
