WAG Announces Extended Hours for Final Two Weeks of Picasso

Winnipeg, Manitoba, July 27, 2017: “Absolutely amazing!” “Thought provoking.” “Love it!” Winnipeg Art Gallery (WAG) visitors are raving about Picasso in Canada and the National Gallery of Canada’s Man and Beast. The Vollard Suite of Prints. Both exhibitions are on view until August 13, and Winnipeggers now have more chances to take in this incredible showcase highlighting one of the most influential artists of all time.

Starting August 3, the WAG is open until 11pm on Thursdays and Fridays for the final two weeks of the shows (August 3, 4, 10, and 11).

“People are loving Picasso and we are pleased to keep our doors open later to meet demand,” states Dr. Stephen Borys, WAG Director & CEO. “Due to their sensitivity to light, many of the pieces can only be displayed for so long at a time, so by extending hours we can make the most of this rare opportunity on the Prairies!”

Picasso in Canada brings together Picasso’s best work from collections across the country. Thirty-five pieces were selected by Borys from eight Canadian art museums, as well as some private collections, from paintings and watercolours to drawings, engravings, and ceramic works. Man & Beast features 100 etchings and drypoints, widely considered Picasso’s graphic masterpiece. A treasure of the national collection, only a handful of the complete sets remain.
