WAG Features Canadian Artists in Summer Tours
“With the work of over 50 Canadian artists currently on view this summer, the tour theme is definitely Canadiana,” says Art Educator Anna Wiebe. “We have works from our own collection on view, of course, but also from the National Gallery of Canada, the Musée national des beaux-arts du Québec, the Art Gallery of Ontario, the Vancouver Art Gallery, the Canadian War Museum, as well as many private collections. These tours are a great introduction to the diversity of visual arts production in Canada both historically and in contemporary practice.”
Exhibitions that may be covered by these tours include Diana Thorneycroft: Canada, Myth and History, Group of Seven Awkward Moments; The Nude in Modern Canadian Art, 1920-1950; Kiugak Ashoona: Stories and Imaginings from Cape Dorset; Andrew Qappik: Pangnirtung Memories; and the six exhibitions that comprise The Collection on View.
