Black Water

Work is constructed of cut cedar planks which have been painted grey. The bottom half of the work is covered with Plexiglas which has been incised overall. In the centre of the work is a violin and at the top centre of the work is the head of a baby doll. The cedar planks represents ice/water and the Plexiglas surface signifies the cut line between above and below ice/water.

Seated Female Nude

Cast bronze sculpture of a nude female, seated with her knees crossed. Her elbows rest upon her knees and her hands clasp the side and back of her head. Set against the smooth plinth upon which the sculpture rests, the form's surface is textured, speaking to the artist's hand in modeling it. In this manner there are ties to Rodin. The woman's face is formulaic with arched eyebrows, straight nose and stylized hair treatment (band/braid). The modeling is characteristic of the artist's work-sensuous, emphasizing through distortion of size the breasts (globular) and buttocks, with oversized feet and thick legs. (per Helen Delacretaz, Curator of Decorative and Historical Art)
