This is the original drawing for a print published by the Sanavik Co-operative in Baker Lake in 1988. The artist began drawing in the early 1980s, when she was in her seventies. Between 1985 and 1988, six of her drawings were rendered into stonecut and stencil prints for the Sanavik annual collections. Her work bears a similarity to that of Luke Anguhadluq, who also began creating drawings late in life. Both used multiple perspectives to show their subjects from the most informative angle. In this drawing a sensitive, shaded line and delicate colours give poignancy to the separate but linked elements. Depicted here are a caribou, a wolf, a skin tent, a man, and a woman who faces the viewer in order to show her impressive facial tattoos.
