Children & Teens
Children’s and teens’ classes are structured to accommodate the abilities of different age levels. These classes develop skills in various media, fostering creativity and imagination. Artist instructors are paired with classes based on their understanding of materials used and sensitivity to the ages of the children. The Fall, Winter, and Spring sessions consist of 10 classes each on Saturdays or weekdays in the early evening.
Mixed Media 1(5-6 years)

Ages 5–6• You will work with a variety of materials which can include drawing, painting, collage, sculpture, or printmaking. Projects may be layered, mixed, and occasionally take more than one class to complete. Instructors teach an understanding of many materials, unusual ideas, and great creativity.

Beginning Animation (10-12 years)
Ages 10–12 • This course will provide you with a general understanding of the animation process and techniques. You will explore different traditional styles of animation such as drawing, cell animation, cut out, and claymation and develop your own stories, characters, and designs to complete basic animation projects on CD. This program is presented with the assistance of the Manitoba Society for Independent Animators (MSIA).

Ages 10–14 • Prerequisite: Beginning Animation or equivalent experience •
This course builds on the fundamentals of animation that were introduced in Beginning Animation. You will continue to develop characters and stories you began in previous courses and work on projects that refine and deepen your understanding of animation.

Spring Break Art Camp Ages 6-10
Following the overwhelming success of last year’s inaugural Summer Art Camps, the Winnipeg Art Gallery is pleased to offer a weeklong Spring Break Art Camp for children 6-10 years. Camp includes kid-friendly, interactive tours of our spring exhibitions, including American Chronicles: The Art of Norman Rockwell, daily studio workshops led by a professional artist; a fieldtrip; Friday pizza lunch; and a camper-curated exhibition. Send your little artists for an adventure in art at the WAG!
Each day of our full-week camp runs from 9am-4pm with free early drop off and extended care.

Fairytales and Monsters: Hear ye, hear ye! Visit the enchanted land of the WAG as we explore the art of fairytales!
City Safari: Grab your sketchbook! Get inspired by the wild animals at the zoo, the giant trees in the park, and the winding rivers at the Forks as we take art outside.
Construction Zone: Get inspired by historic and modern buildings and design creations of your own!
