Clara Lander Library

A Rich Art Resource

The Clara Lander Library is a rich resource for art research and is accessible to Gallery staff and volunteers, students, artists, appraisers, collectors, researchers and gallery visitors. The library collections include some 30,000 volumes of books, exhibition catalogues, museum publications as well as popular and scholarly art periodicals. The collections reflect the Gallery’s art collecting and exhibition programming, with particular strengths in Canadian art and the art of the Inuit.

Frequently Asked Questions

Who can access the Library/Archives material?
The library/archives is open to the public for reference use only. Users can access material within the library spaces. Study tables and a photocopier are available, as well as assistance provided by library staff.

May I borrow a book or journal from the Library collection?
No. Library collections do not circulate.

How can I donate books to the Library?
The library/archives will accept donations of items that meet our collection priorities and enhance our holdings. How can I get an artwork assessed?

How can I get artwork assessed?
The library does not offer evaluations, authentications or appraisal. However, our resource library contains many reference tools for research on artists and artworks.
