Live on the Rooftop
Live on the Rooftop • Keith and Renée
Thursday June 28, 2012 at 7:30pm
Keith and Renée defy all labels. They’ve been called pop, rock, folk and country. To them, all that matters is creating music with meaning. The duo recently spent two summers in Kenya as ambassadors for the humanitarian organization Free the Children. Upon their return, they performed in over 300 schools across Canada, inspiring young people to make a positive difference in their own lives. Moved by the spirit of the African people they met, they wrote The One, which earned a place on David Suzuki’s prestigious Playlist for the Planet CD compilation.
The title track is a tribute to a friend who went overseas to fight in the war. No strangers to motivating the masses through music, Keith and Renée’s songs have attracted big-league music placements – from an AT&T commercial broadcast around the world to movies and television programs seen across North America. Their song Good Year was the theme for Manitoba’s 2010 Homecoming campaign, and they performed it for the Queen during her most recent visit to Winnipeg.
With a host of musical influences as diverse as Coldplay, Lissie, Lennon/McCartney, The Beatles, and Tom Petty and The Heartbreakers, the secret to the duo’s longevity is a determination to keep stretching their musical abilities in different directions.
