Danube River Cruise - Imperial Cities: Vienna, Budapest, and Prague

Cruise for eight days on this historic river immortalized by Johan Strauss, passing stunning valley gorges, imposing castles and cathedrals, and quaint villages. Visit the magnificent cities of Vienna, Budapest, and Passau. See UNESCO sites, vineyards, and attend a concert in Vienna.

This escorted 12 day vacation includes a day in Budapest before the cruise and two days in Prague at the end of the cruise. The highlight is the 8-day river cruise to discover the grand cities and quaint villages along the celebrated Danube River. In Hungary, explore the capital—traditional “Buda” and more cosmopolitan “Pest”—and from Fishermen’s Bastion, see how the river divides this fascinating city. In Austria experience the ancient villages of the Wachau valley. Familiarize yourself with Vienna’s imperial architecture, gracious culture, and take in a concert. You’ll see why Strauss immortalized this romantic river in his famous “Blue Danube” waltz.

In Germany explore several cities; Nuremberg, Passau and the medieval city of Regensburg as well as baroque cathedrals and cobbled streets lined with half-timbered houses. In the Czech Republic see Golden Prague’s historic monuments and National Museum, and stroll through the famous Wenceslas and Charles Squares.
