The Fringe at the WAG
Wednesday, July 18, 2012 to Sunday, July 29, 2012
For the first time, the Fringe is coming to the WAG! Expect big things as both the WAG and the Fringe are celebrating special birthdays. The WAG kicks off its centennial anniversary in September while the Winnipeg Fringe is celebrating a quarter century from July 18 to 29. Ten shows will be offered in the Muriel Richardson Auditorium.
Bring in your ticket stub from any Fringe show and receive $2 off admission to our exhibitions, including Fairy Tales, Monsters, and the Genetic Imagination, described by Alison Mayes of the Free Press as "stunningly creepy.!"
Original, accessible, cheeky – these are just some of the adjectives used to describe North America’s second-largest Fringe Theatre Festival. For 12 days every July, more than 170 companies from around the world present comedy, drama, dance, improv, musicals and more at the Winnipeg Fringe. The streets come alive with actors in elaborate costumes, street performers displaying unique talents and thousands of people attending shows, browsing vendor stalls and watching performers on the outdoor stage.
In 1988 the Fringe started with a handful of venues and performing companies. Centered in and around The Exchange District, the Fringe has grown every year, and now extends beyond Old Market Square with venues stretching from The Forks, down Portage Avenue and into the heart of Osborne Village.
Join the celebration from July 18 to 29! With a diversity of performers, there is something for everyone.
