October 18-November 4, 2018
Don't miss this island hopping adventure! The perfect sampling of Indonesia’s rich cultural and scenic diversity, start on the island of Java with its wealth of classical arts, including Borobudur, the largest Buddhist monument in the world. In eastern Java, you’ll be at Mount Bromo to watch the sun rise over the spectacular chain of volcanoes.
On the island of Sulawesi, Tana Toraja packs a cultural wallop: Elaborately painted houses dot terraced rice paddies and life-sized wooden effigies guard the eerie yet beautiful cliff cemeteries of communities devoted to the celebration of death. From the island of Sulawesi, you fly to Bali for three blissful nights in Ubud, the cultural heart of the island. You’ll be entranced by the landscapes of rice terraces and connected water temples dating from the ninth century and soothed by the sounds of the traditional gamelan music accompanying graceful dancers. A short flight whisks you to Labuan Bajo before you embark on an exciting trip to Komodo National Park to locate these fabled creatures, throwbacks to the Jurassic Age. Your exploration tops off with a deluxe stay on a gorgeous beach in Bali.
