In Place celebrates a selection of recurring themes relevant to Manitoban artists over the past fifty years (1970 – today).

Drawn from the WAG’s permanent collection, this exhibition is a study of the ways in which identity, culture, and material are, in many ways, set “in place”. An idea more relevant than ever during this period in which we “shelter in place”.

WAG-Qaumajuq recognizes that land acknowledgements are part of an ongoing dialogue with Indigenous Nations, and we are grateful to live and work on these lands and waters. Institutionally, WAG-Qaumajuq is committed to acknowledging our colonial history and we are actively working to interrogate the Gallery’s colonial ways of being.
