Your current active membership –including all of its benefits – will remain the same until your membership anniversary (formerly known as your expiration date – there are so many reasons to celebrate you!). As usual, you will hear from us the month of your anniversary with a reminder to renew into one of our new categories.
You can continue to use your current membership card. When it comes time to renew in one of our new membership categories, you will receive a digital membership card or a new physical card if preferred. For more questions about digital cards, see the FAQ section on Digital Membership Cards below.
You will receive our regular e-news which includes invitations to public events and exhibition openings. Friend with Benefits levels and higher include early access to exhibitions and events.
Can I upgrade my current Friend membership to a Friend with Benefits or Partner/Patron membership to receive the extra perks?
Yes, we can upgrade your membership at any time! Simply call our membership office at 204-789-1764.
Thanks to the generosity of WAG supporters, FREE Friend level memberships are available to self-identifying Indigenous Peoples and youth aged 25 and under! For those over 25, Friend memberships are available for only $35.
The WAG is piloting the Free/$35 memberships for the inaugural year of Qaumajuq.
Because this level is affordably priced to bring you the best value for your dollar, this level is not eligible for anniversary discounts.
Friend with Benefits Membership
No, only the Friend memberships are free for self-identifying Indigenous peoples. [Why is that?] Friend with Benefits memberships are priced to include extra perks like discounts, invites to events, and more. Your purchase of a Friend with Beneits or higher level membership helps to make our free and affordable memberships accessible to the community.
We no longer offer free passes as part of our memberships, however you will have the ability to bring one guest with you to member-related events for free.
Yes, you can add any one person you visit the Gallery frequently with – a parent, friend, partner, whoever. If you choose a digital membership, you and your companion will have your names on the same card. Check out our digital card FAQ below.
The Partner/Patron membership replaces our old Preferred Memberships. The membership cost of this level is $175, and that includes a number of great benefits unique to this membership level, including a coupon to the ShopWAG, invitations to special events, reciprocal admission at museums and galleries across North America (NARM), a subscription to Inuit Art Quarterly, and much more. This level is about giving back to the WAG, and helping to make the Gallery more accessible to the community.
We have a minimum donation amount of $25, however there is no maximum – every donation amount creates more opportunity at the WAG. This includes free admissions and memberships for youth and Indigenous members of the community, a new initiative that was made possible by donors and members like you! Members who give donations of $825 or more with their membership ($1,000 +) are Patrons, and receive more unique experiences, while helping the WAG make a deeper impact in the community.
Yes, your membership includes one companion who can receive their own digital membership card. Children ages 18 years and younger receive FREE admission to the Winnipeg Art Gallery starting in February, 2021 and therefore do not need to be added to your membership. From now until February, enjoy free admission for any children in your family with the purchase of a Friend with Benefits, Partner/Patron membership!

Yes, all members of the Associates must be active WAG members.
Yes, a WAG member from any membership category is welcome to join the Associates!
Digital Membership Cards
Access the email from your smartphone and click the “Download” button, then click “Add to Wallet” and “Add.” The card will automatically go to your iPhone’s Apple Wallet. It can be accessed in Wallet at any time. Tap the (…) icon at the bottom-right corner to flip over your card and view your membership benefits, hours of operation, and contact information.
Android users need to download Wallet Passes from Google Play. After you have the app, access the email from your smartphone and click “Download” in the membership email, and the card will automatically go to your Wallet Passes app, where it can be accessed at any time. Tap the (i) icon to flip over your card and view your membership benefits, hours of operation, and contact information.

My family member/friend is on this membership account as a Companion. How can they receive their digital membership card?
For Android users, open your card in the Wallet Passes app, navigate to the back of the card by clicking the small “i” on the front and use the “Share Pass” button to send the card to your Companion. For iPhone users open your membership card in your Apple Wallet and click the (…) icon to access the back of your card. Once flipped, you will find the share icon at the top right of the digital card.
If you have an iPhone, the card will automatically download to the Apple Wallet. Check the app for your new card (scroll through any cards that are already there- it may be hiding!). If you have an Android, you’ll need to download the Wallet Passes app from the Google Play Store prior to downloading the card.
