The WAG is a place to connect with the world around you, be inspired, and learn through art.

Thanks to the generosity of supporters like you, the WAG brings people of all ages together through the power of art. The Gallery relies on assistance from the community to reach over 125,000 people annually and many more online with our programming and an outstanding collection of art spanning places, cultures, and time. Your contribution to Canada’s oldest civic art gallery provides transformative experiences for others and helps us build a better future.

Last year, your donations helped more than 10,000 students across Manitoba free their imaginations. You can make a difference to many, now and for years to come, by giving to the WAG today. Thank you for your support!

If you have questions about how to donate online, please call Kelsey Funk at 204.789.1345 or email

Donations of $500 or more are eligible to be recognized on the WAG’s Annual Donor Listing.

Gifts over $20 receive a tax receipt for 100% of your donation, but gifts of all levels make a difference.

The WAG holds in trust the world’s largest public collection of contemporary Inuit art. To celebrate this art and honour the Inuit, the WAG is building the Inuit Art Centre, the first centre of its kind. Opening in 2020, the Inuit Art Centre will bridge Canada’s North and South through exhibitions, research, education, and art making. To date, this $65 million project has received incredible support, but we still need your help. We invite you to join the visionary group of supporters who believe in the power of shared art and culture to connect people and create a better future.

Your donation to the Inuit Art Centre will be matched dollar-for-dollar by Bob Williams until November 30, 2020

Your commitment today will make an impact tomorrow. Leaving a contribution in your will or donating assets like art to the WAG means you play a vital role in preserving, enhancing, and maintaining access to our collection for all to enjoy.

Your planned gift ensures the WAG will continue to be the lens that enables people of all ages and backgrounds to see more of life and society through art, now and for future generations, while providing attractive tax benefits for you or your estate.

Types of planned gifts include:

  • Bequest/Will – A gift stated in your will in the form of a designated amount or percentage of your estate.
  • Gifts of life insurance – A gift that names the Winnipeg Art Gallery as a beneficiary of life insurance policy proceeds.
  • Gifts of stock and securities – A gift of publicly traded shares or securities donated to the Winnipeg Art Gallery not subject to capital gains tax.
  • Gift of art – More than 70% of the WAG collection—currently totaling close to 30,000 pieces—is the result of generous donations from people like you. Dedicated collectors choose the WAG for a permanent home for their works because they know each piece will be appreciated, cared for, and put on display for others to enjoy. A gift of property such as artworks can be receipted for the appraised value of the item.

There has never been a better time to join the circle of supporters who are building Canada’s Inuit Art Centre.

Right now, philanthropist Bob Williams is matching all donations, up to a total of $500,000 (this offer ends Nov 30, 2020 or when the match is fully subscribed).

Our team would be delighted to speak with you about your interest in supporting the WAG.
